The Garrett Museum of Art (GMOA), 100 S. Randolph St., Garrett, is hosting its fourth annual anniversary exhibit and celebration on Friday, March 16, 2012.
Any artist in DeKalb, Noble, Stueben and Allen counties, as well as artists who have an association with the museum, are invited to submit entries for this exhibit. The exhibit will showcase as many are artists as possible through May 4.
Accepted media will include oil, acrylic and watercolor paintings, sculpture, ceramics, fiber art, printmaking, photography, drawing, stained glass, and mixed media (with full description of materials used.) All two-dimensional artwork should be framed and/or presented ready to hang, or it will be disqualified.
This is an exhibit, but artwork may be marked for sale. Any work sold during the show will be subject to a 20 percent gratuity for members, 25 percent for nonmembers.
All purchase arrangements will be made through a GMOA representative and the artist will be paid by check by Garrett State Bank, less gratuity.
This will be a juried show with notification of rejection sent out by March 12. A $20 entry fee made payable to the GMOA entitles the exhibitor up to three entries. The fee will be waived for artist members at the $25 and above membership level.
Members at this level will also receive five People’s Choice votes to be cast for this year’s show. This year, there will be numerous prizes, such as a Best of Show award of $100 and a People’s Choice award to be determined by the number of votes cast at a dollar a vote, as well as a variety of local business sponsored awards.
All work is to be dropped off at the museum, in person on Saturday, March 3 or Sunday March 4 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. A series would count as one entry, but must be clearly marked as such.
Space may dictate the number of pieces accepted by each artist, but there is no entry size limitation. Entry forms may be picked up at all three Garrett State Bank locations, the Garrett Public Library, or may be downloaded online at the museum’s website:garrettmuseumofart.com
